Murder
Matthew 5:21
In the time during the Law of Moses, legal matters over issues such as bloodshed were handled by the older men of that particular region in Israel. Now however, we had better watch what we say about anyone.
"It may be that some cases will be too difficult for the local judges to decide, such as certain cases of property rights or of bodily injury or those cases that involve a distinction between murder and manslaughter. When this happens, go to the one place of worship chosen by the LORD your God, 9 and present your case to the levitical priests and to the judge who is in office at that time, and let them decide the case.Deuteronomy 17:8-9 GNB
Jesus teaches us that we should be willing to turn the other cheek@, when a person does something against us. Moreover he teaches us that our Father will forgive us based on our forgiveness of others@. It is also highly likely that someone might take an earthly possession of ours, and that includes our wives or husband. This might seem to be a valid reason to get justice for ourselves, but the Messiah commands us that our treasure is not to be on the earth, because where our treasure is, there are hearts will be. Our treasure should therefore be stored in heaven@. Thus the reason we should avoid getting married, avoid purchasing land, and avoid having huge accounts of money. All these things can be taken away from us and can create a high potential in stumbling us and others@. If we have earthly possessions, then someone else might covet or rather envy what we have and take them. These things also take away from our focus and attention we would otherwise place in our quest for the kingdom of the heavens and God's righteousness. The less we have and want on the earth, the simpler our eye shall be, and the more we can focus on gaining treasure in the heavens.
Workers may or may not have enough to eat, but at least they can get a good night's sleep. The rich, however, have so much that they stay awake worrying.Ecclesiastes 5:12 GNB
1 John 2:9-11 GNB
If we say that we are in the light, yet hate others, we are in the darkness to this very hour. 10 If we love others, we live in the light, and so there is nothing in us that will cause someone else to sin. 11 But if we hate others, we are in the darkness; we walk in it and do not know where we are going, because the darkness has made us blind.1 John 3:13-15 GNB
So do not be surprised, my friends, if the people of the world hate you. 14 We know that we have left death and come over into life; we know it because we love others. Those who do not love are still under the power of death. 15 Those who hate others are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life in them.
