The Light Of The World
Matthew 5:14
If we are in union with the Word then we are part of his body, and if we are part of his body, then we are he:
Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. "I am the light of the world," he said. "Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness."John 8:12 GNB
Now if we as a congregation possess the light of life in us we are the light of the word, is it not our job as a congregation to shine on others? If we are hidden from view, what good are we? Are we not as good as salt that has lost its savor? Therefore we must shine on others too, so that they can come into that glorious light with us. The wicked ones will, of course avoid that light, for just as the cockroaches do, the wicked ones do, by running into hiding so as not to be seen for what they truly are. However those called by God will come to the light, but they have to see it in order to come to it and it is our responsibility as Christians to show our light as a congregation in our own example and word. Now if we do not feel qualified as teachers, then we should shine our light on others with our actions. We certainly should not brag about what we do for God in order to get the approval of other men, as shall be seen, but by what we do for our neighbors, in Christian love, that shall be sufficient evidence of our light.
This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil. 20 Those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up. 21 But those who do what is true come to the light in order that the light may show that what they did was in obedience to God.John 3:19-21 GNB
Proverbs 13:4 ASV The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
Proverbs 22:13 ASV The sluggard saith, There is a lion without: I shall be slain in the streets.
Let us as a congregation allow our light to shine on those around us.
